FAQ

Your Questions, Answered

Flushing Bank

What advantages can I expect as an OceanFirst customer?

Starting now, you can use your Flushing Bank debit or ATM card at any OceanFirst ATM with no fees or surcharges.

Once we combine operations:

  • Business customers will have access to expanded treasury management capabilities and commercial financing solutions, along with investment, trust and estate services designed to support more complex banking needs.

  • Personal customers will have additional choices in accounts and services, including enhanced everyday banking features.

Will the bankers at my branch still be there for me?

Yes. Relationship banking is at the core of our organization and remains a primary focus for our combined bank. You will continue to see and have access to the friendly bankers you know, supported by additional resources as the integration progresses in the coming months.

Will any branches be closing as a result of this merger?

No. Initially you will notice references to “Flushing Bank, a division of OceanFirst Bank N.A.” at branches and on account statements. Branch signage will transition to OceanFirst when the full integration of accounts, services and systems occurs later this year. All branches will remain available for you to continue banking as usual.

I have accounts at both Flushing Bank and OceanFirst. Do I need to do anything special at this time?

No. Until we complete the full integration later this year, your deposit accounts at Flushing Bank and OceanFirst will remain independent of one another and you will receive separate account statements. Your deposits will continue to be insured up to applicable limits by the FDIC, which generally protects up to $250,000 per depositor, per bank. If you have deposit accounts at both Flushing Bank and OceanFirst at the time of the merger, your deposits at each bank will remain separately insured for at least six months following closing of the merger—and possibly longer for certificates of deposit (CDs). After that grace period, your deposit balances will be combined for purposes of the FDIC insurance limit. For more information on FDIC insurance, the grace period, or to calculate your specific insurance coverage, please visit the FDIC website at fdic.gov. If you have any questions, please contact customer service at 800.581.2889.

Community Reinvestment Act Public File

Supporting the community is a priority for OceanFirst Bank. Below you will find the components our CRA Public File available for your review. If you have any questions, please contact compliancedept@oceanfirst.com

In 1977 Congress enacted the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) to encourage financial institutions to meet the credit needs of communities where they do business, including neighborhoods with low to moderate incomes.

This required CRA Public File is easily accessible and shows how we meet the needs of the communities we serve.

The information below is current as of April 1 each year.

As a result of the recent merger between OceanFirst Bank and Flushing Bank, our institution is now operating under the name OceanFirst Bank, effective June 1. We have updated our CRA Public File to reflect changes in our assessment areas. The CRA Public Files can be found below for both institutions:
