How long have you been a member of the OceanFirst Bank team? What role do you play on the Bank Team? I have been with OceanFirst for about almost five years and came to OFB through the Ocean City Home Bank acquisition. I manage the consumer and residential lending departments for the bank and work with 60 other team members providing mortgages and home equity loans and lines of credit to new and existing customers throughout the Bank’s footprint.
What has been your favorite volunteer activity – and why? My favorite volunteer activity is working with Habitat for Humanity. I’ve served on the Board for several years in addition to volunteering on Build Days. It’s rewarding to help families who need assistance realize the dream of homeownership. Requiring homeowners to get involved and help with the construction gives them a sense of pride in the finished product as well as accomplishment. Handing someone the keys to their first home and knowing you helped make it happen, makes this such a great cause to support.
What has volunteering taught you? Volunteering has taught me to be humble and appreciate the important things in life. The things you can’t buy-love, family & friends and good health. We should all take the opportunity to get involved in a charitable cause and make a difference if we are able. I wholehearted believe in the motto “it is in giving that we receive."
If you could turn into an animal, what would it be? I would be my cat. She’s got an awesome life. She pretty much just eats, sleeps, chases things in the yard and ignores me unless she wants attention and she seem perfectly content!
What did you want to be when you were a kid? I wanted to be a nurse or a lawyer. I probably would have been a better lawyer because I always think I’m right. Plus, as a lender, compassion isn’t always my best quality.
What is your favorite quote? When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
What was the last book you read? James Patterson, Deadly Cross
What year of your life would you redo and why? 2020 - I think everyone would like to have a do over for 2020. The pandemic and resulting impact were hard on everyone. So many once in a lifetime events occurred that were not able to be celebrated or mourned. I especially felt for residents in nursing facilities or in hospitals who were unable to be with their families.
