Answers to Your Second Round Stimulus Questions
December 31, 2020
As COVID-19 continues to impact our communities, we know it's even more important for you to get the financial help you need. Recently, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Treasury Department began delivering a second round of Economic Impact Payments (or stimulus payments) to eligible Americans. While the process is currently underway, these payments are initiated and distributed solely by the IRS. Our Customer Care Center does not have any information regarding eligibility, timing or distribution of your individual Economic Impact Payment. For the most up-to-date information on eligibility and payment amounts, visit the IRS website
Am I eligible to receive a second stimulus payment?
Generally, U.S. citizens are eligible for the second payment. Also, individuals that have an adjusted gross income for 2019 up to $75,000 and up to $150,000 for married couples filing joint returns and surviving spouses will receive the full amount of the second payment. For filers with income above those amounts, the payment amount is reduced.
How do I get my payment?
Payments will be delivered via direct deposit, paper checks, or debit card.
When will I receive the payment via direct deposit?
The IRS has already started delivering payments via direct deposit. According to the IRS, some may see a pending direct deposit payment as early as December 30, but the official payment date is January 4, 2021.
When will I receive the payment via paper check?
The IRS expects to mail paper checks by December 30. To help speed up the delivery of the payments, the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, part of the Treasury Department, will be sending a limited number of payments out by debit card.
Please note that the Economic Impact Payment Card will be sent in a white envelope that prominently displays the U.S. Department of the Treasury seal. Information included with the card will explain that this is your Economic Impact Payment. More information about these cards is available at EIPcard.com
What do I need to do?
There is no action required to receive the second payment. We encourage you to periodically check the status of your payment by using the Get My Payment tool, available on IRS.gov.
Be on the lookout for scams or fraud.
Neither the IRS nor OceanFirst Bank will contact you by phone, text, email or social media asking for personal or bank account information related to Economic Impact Payments.
